
Chestnuts are ripe, come to the Isle ofthe Xishan to pick ‘Jiujiazhong’ chestnuts. 
Pomegranate blossoms in summer, and itsfruit is ripe at the end of September, as a farming proverb goes: “Pomegranateis harvested in the morning of the Cold Dew”. Its fruit has many a seed, and isbelieved to portend figuratively the ‘bliss of having many sons’, and thereforeis regarded as an auspicious fruit. 
Of the persimmons from the Xishan, theCow Heart Persimmon and Copper Plate Persimmon are the premiums. The Cow HeartPersimmon is so named due to its resemblance to the heart of a cow. It turnsred and transparent after it is ripe, with a thin skin and few seeds and it isjuicy and sweet. The Copper Plate Persimmon gets its name owing to itsresemblance to a copper plate. The fruit is big and flat, in orange color, withthick meat and delicious taste.
